On June 12th, YG was shot outside of his studio around 3 am. The Compton rapper was quickly taken to the hospital by his friends. He ultimately ended up being OK as he took one bullet to the side of his hip.
He recently sat down with Billboard to explain how everything went down. According to YG, he has no idea who attacked him and why he was shot. He claims that he is lucky to be alive. He went on to say:
“After I got shot, I’m telling everybody, “Take me to the hospital, because I can’t die.” We hop in my homie’s car and bam—we got in a car accident! We hit an island trying to avoid another car. We had to hop out of the totaled car, hop in another car. At the hospital we had to tell people, “Take me serious right now—you don’t even understand what’s going on.” It was wild.
YG also talked about his new album, Still Krazy, which he was recording at the studio during the shooting. He says he’s actually about halfway done with the project. He produced a track about the incident called “Twist Your Fingers.”
